Yum! We loved these sloppy joes more than we expected to. They're a delicious twist on the classic recipe. The mixture of Italian sausage and ground beef add tons of flavor to the dish. Number Of Ingredients 11

1 jar(s) marinara sauce, 24 oz.
1 lb ground beef
1 lb Italian sausage, hot or mild
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 pkg hamburger buns
sliced mozzarella or provolone cheese
sliced pepperoni

Steps:

  • 1. Heat a large deep pan over medium heat, then add olive oil. If you are using the link sausage remove the skin and crumble into pan.
  • 2. Cook meat and drain of fat. Put meat back into pan after draining and reduce heat to low.
  • 3. Pour marinara over meat. Add oregano and red pepper; stir. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until you have a nice thick consistency. Taste for seasoning and adjust as you like.
  • 4. Put pepperoni and cheese on the bun.
  • 5. Scoop desired amount of meat onto bun and serve.
