My family and friends loves it and it is so simple and easy to make the cheddar cheese straws and this one is mozzarella cheese. I make them for holidays or parties. It is so delicious and tasty.

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 c butter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 tsp dried italian seasoning
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground white pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Pulse cheese and butter 3 or 4 times in a food processor until combined. Add flour and remaining ingredients; process 20 seconds or until mixture forms a ball and leaves sides of bowl. Roll with rolling pin to make a rectangle and 1/4 inch thick. Use a cookie press fitted with a bar-shaped disk to shape dough into 2 1/2-inch straws. Or divide dough into fourths, and roll each portion into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle on floured wax paper. Cut into 2- X 1/2-inch strips with a knife or pastry wheel and twist the cheese straws. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 F. for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

Overall, I thought these cheese straws were pretty good. They were easy to make and they turned out crispy and cheesy. I would definitely make them again.

These cheese straws were a little too salty for my taste, but otherwise they were good. I think I'll try making them again with less salt next time.

I'm not a big fan of cheese straws, but I have to say, these were pretty good. I liked the fact that they were crispy and cheesy, but not too greasy.

These cheese straws are a great way to use up leftover cheese. I always have a few blocks of cheese in my fridge, so it's nice to have a recipe that I can use them for.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my cheese straws turned out dry and crumbly. I think I might have overcooked them.

I'm not a big fan of cheese straws, but I have to say, these were pretty good. The dough was flaky and the cheese was melted and gooey.

I've tried many cheese straw recipes, but this one is by far the best. The dough is so easy to work with and the straws come out perfectly golden brown.
