This recipe is from my aunt ( who entered it in a Taste of Home contest many years ago and was featured in one of their magazine issues) Before that it has been in our family for 3 generations. Number Of Ingredients 16

1 1/2 lb bulk italian sausage
1 1/2 lb ground beef
1 c chopped onion
1 c chopped green pepper
2 can(s) (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
2 can(s) (6 ounces each) tomato paste
1/2 c water
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground pepper
1/8 tsp garlic powder
2 can(s) (8 ounces each) whole kernel corn, drained
2 can(s) (2 ounces each) sliced ripe olives, drained
1 pkg (16 ounces) wide noodles, cooked and drained
8 oz cheddar cheese, cut into strips

Steps:

  • 1. In a Dutch oven over medium heat, cook sausage, beef, onion and green pepper until meat is browned and vegetables are tender; drain.
  • 2. Add tomato sauce and paste, water and seasonings; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • 3. Add corn and olives; cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in noodles.
  • 4. Pour into two greased 9x13x2 baking dishes. Top with cheese.
  • 5. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until heated through.
