Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 Tablespoons cornstarch (divided)
Salt and pepper (to taste)
1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless, chicken breasts (could also use chicken thighs)
2 Tablespoons sesame oil (divided)
6 Tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
2 1/2 Tablespoons ketchup
Pinch red pepper flakes
6 Tablespoons honey
3 Tablespoons water
1 Tablespoon sesame seeds

Steps:

  • In a gallon-sized resealable bag, mix together 2 Tablespoons cornstarch with salt and pepper.
  • Add in chicken pieces to bag, seal, and shake until chicken is completely coated with cornstarch (if you need to add more cornstarch to make sure all chicken is covered, feel free).
  • Plug in your Instant Pot and push "saute" button. Add in 1 1/2 Tablespoons of sesame oil to the Instant Pot and let it heat up.
  • Once the oil is hot, add in the coated chicken pieces. Saute for 3-4 minutes or until all sides of the chicken start to turn golden-brown.
  • In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, ketchup, red pepper flakes. Pour over chicken pieces. Stir gently so that all the chicken pieces are covered in sauce.
  • Place lid on Instant Pot and seal. Make sure that your valve is in the "seal" position and not the "vent" position.
  • Push the "manual" button and then set for 3 minutes.
  • The Instant Pot will take about 10 minutes to pressurize and then it will start the 3 minute cooking time.
  • Once the 3 minutes are up, do a quick release (move the valve from "seal" to "vent") and let all the pressure out. Once the steam has stopped coming out of the vent, remove the lid.
  • Add in the remaining sesame oil and honey and mix in with the chicken.
  • In another small bowl, mix together water with the remaining cornstarch. Pour in with the chicken, and gently stir to cover chicken. Push the "saute" button again and let the sauce thicken (should only take 2-3 minutes).
  • Serve over rice and top with sesame seeds.

This recipe is a bit spicy for my taste, but I still enjoyed it. I just added a little less chili sauce than the recipe called for.

I'm a vegetarian, so I made this recipe with tofu instead of chicken. It turned out great! The tofu was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover chicken. I always have some leftover chicken in my fridge, and this is a great way to turn it into a delicious meal.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my chicken turned out really tough. I followed the recipe exactly, so I'm not sure what happened.

Overall, I thought this recipe was pretty good. It was easy to make, and the chicken was cooked well. However, I found that the sauce was a bit bland. I think I'll try adding some more spices next time.

This recipe is a great starting point, but I think it needs a few tweaks. I added some more vegetables, and I also used a different type of sauce.

I found that the chicken was a bit dry. I think I'll try cooking it for a shorter amount of time next time.

This recipe was a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I'll try using less brown sugar next time.

This dish is a bit on the spicy side for my taste, but I still really enjoyed it. I just added a little less chili sauce than the recipe called for.

I love how versatile this recipe is. I've made it with both chicken and tofu, and it's been great both ways. I also like to add different vegetables, depending on what I have on hand.

I was a bit skeptical about making sesame chicken in the Instant Pot, but I'm so glad I tried it. It turned out even better than I expected. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the sauce was rich and flavorful.

This dish was a hit with my kids! They loved the sweet and savory sauce, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I'll definitely be adding this to our regular dinner rotation.

I've tried a lot of sesame chicken recipes, but this one is by far the best. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the sauce was perfectly balanced. I'll definitely be making this again!
