Homemade Panko (Japanese Bread Crumbs) image

I was cooking with a Japanese friend, and she told me how easy it is to make your own Panko. I can't believe I've been buying it all this time :-)

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 2

2 slices fresh white bread
1 slice fresh white bread

Steps:

  • Carefully trim only the brown crust from fresh white bread.
  • Lay out on the counter (or somewhere safe) for 1-2 hours. Some people have had to leave their bread out to dry for much longer, even up to 12 hours, depending on the type of bread used.
  • When it is dried out, crumble gently using your fingers.
  • Use as desired.

These panko crumbs are a lifesaver! I'm a busy mom and I don't always have time to make homemade breadcrumbs. These crumbs are a quick and easy way to add flavor and texture to my favorite dishes.

Not impressed. The panko crumbs were bland and didn't add any flavor to my dish.

These panko crumbs are amazing! I used them to make chicken katsu and it was the best I've ever had. The crumbs were crispy and flavorful, and they really took the dish to the next level.

I've never made panko crumbs before, but this recipe was so easy to follow. The crumbs turned out perfect and they made my chicken nuggets extra crispy.

Not bad, but not great either. The panko crumbs were a bit too dry for my taste.

Absolutely delicious! The panko crumbs were so crispy and flavorful, and they added the perfect touch to my chicken parmesan. I will definitely be making this again.
