Homemade Grenadine image

You can buy grenadine, but after you make your own, you'll never go back to the store-bought version. Kids love it, especially when it's turned into a Shirley Temple by adding it to a lemon-lime soda. -Taste of Home Test Kitchen

Yield 2 cups.

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 cup sugar
1 cup pomegranate juice
1 teaspoon lemon juice, optional

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine sugar and pomegranate juice. Cook and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved; remove from heat. If desired, stir in lemon juice; cool. Cover and store in the refrigerator up to 4 weeks.
