Yield 1 loaf.

Number Of Ingredients 12

4-1/2 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup plus 1 teaspoon sugar

1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 cup water
1/4 cup plus 2 teaspoons butter, divided

Place in a greased 2-qt. round baking dish. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 40 minutes. Melt remaining butter; brush over dough. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese if desired. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to a wire rack to cool.
