Hawaiian Ambrosia image

My dad liked this so my mom made it for get togethers. When I was old enough, I took over making it. Whenever my dad and his wife had the families over, his request was for this, and he did not like coconut! Now that both of my parents are gone, making this for other get togethers helps remind me of them.

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 5

minature marshmallows, 1 bag
regular or lite sour cream, 1 small container
1 can(s) mandarin oranges, drained
1 can(s) fruit cocktail, in syrup (lite, or packed in juices), mostly drained
coconut, one bag, sweetened

Steps:

  • 1. Combine all ingredients except coconut and marshmallows in a large bowl. Add coconut and marshamallows to taste and stir to combine. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • 2. NOTE: This tastes better if allowed to let the flavors mingle overnight.

I'm not usually a fan of Ambrosia salad, but this recipe was really good. The flavors were well-balanced and it wasn't too sweet.
