Harvest Sweet Potato Pie image

Years ago, we baked pies a few days before holiday gatherings and placed them in a tall pie safe on our back porch. My father called this sweet potato pie recipe "royal pie," because he thought it was fit for a king. It's a treasured hand-me-down family recipe. -Fae Fisher, Callao, Virginia

I followed the recipe exactly and the pie turned out terrible. The crust was soggy and the filling was runny. I'm not sure what went wrong.

This pie was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it was still good. I think I'll try reducing the amount of sugar next time.

This pie was delicious! I substituted maple syrup for the sugar and it turned out great. The crust was a little too crumbly for my taste, but overall I really enjoyed this recipe.
