From really old cookbook. Old way of doing sandwiches in hot dog buns. They used to freeze these and pull them out as needed. You can grind filling in a food processor.

Time 20m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups ham, diced (recipe says you can use chicken)
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup onion
1 tablespoon pickle relish
7 tablespoons mayonnaise
12 hot dog buns

Steps:

  • Grind ham, cheese, onion, and pickle.
  • Add enough mayonnaise to moisten, and some pickle juice.
  • Spread on buns put under broiler until cheese starts to bubble, 5 minutes.
  • I have seen these wrapped in foil paper and baked. They freeze these and bake them; recipe said 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50 minutes or until cheese melts.

I found these hamwiches to be a bit bland. I think they would have been better with a more flavorful cheese, like cheddar or provolone.

These hamwiches were a little too sweet for my taste. I think I would have preferred them with less pineapple.

I'm not a big fan of ham, but I really enjoyed these hamwiches. The pineapple and Swiss cheese really balanced out the flavor of the ham.

I made these hamwiches for a party and they were a big success. Everyone raved about how good they were. I especially liked the addition of the Dijon mustard, which gave them a little bit of a kick.

I followed the recipe exactly and the hamwiches turned out perfectly. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the ham and pineapple were cooked to perfection. I served them with a side of chips and a pickle, and everyone loved

These hamwiches were a hit with my family! The combination of sweet pineapple and savory ham is a classic, and the addition of Swiss cheese made them extra gooey and delicious. I'll definitely be making these again.
