This is another recipe from my earlier years. I believe I found the recipe in a library book; it was a good addition to our weeknight meals.

Categories     Ham

Time 35m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
3 cups milk
1 cup American cheese, shredded
1 cup cooked ham, cubed (smoked ham suggested)
1/2 lb spaghetti, cooked and drained
sliced hard-cooked egg (to garnish) (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Butter a 2 quart casserole.
  • Melt butter in large saucepan; blend in flour, salt and white pepper. Gradually add milk, stirring until thickened. Remove from heat and blend in cheese; add ham and cooked spaghetti. Stir well.
  • Spoon into prepared casserole. Cover and bake in preheated oven about 15 minutes or until mixture is thoroughly heated. Garnish with sliced hard-cooked eggs, if desired.

This casserole was a bit too salty for my taste. I think I would use less ham next time.

I'm not a huge fan of ham, but I really enjoyed this casserole. The cheese and sauce were so flavorful.

This was a great recipe! I used whole wheat spaghetti and it turned out great. I also added some chopped onion and green pepper to the sauce.

I've made this casserole several times and it's always a hit! My family loves it. It's easy to make and it's a great way to use up leftover ham.

This casserole was just okay. The ham was a bit dry and the spaghetti was overcooked. I think I would try a different recipe next time.

This casserole was a hit with my family! The ham and spaghetti were perfectly cooked, and the cheese was melted and gooey. I would definitely make this again.
