Green Tomato Mincemeat image

This recipe has been passed down through my family for generations. I remember my grandmother and my mother making it. Yummy as a relish with chicken or pork. It of course makes yummy pie. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Number Of Ingredients 9

10 large tomato (green)
3 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp clove, ground
1 tsp salt
1/4 c apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 pt apples, granny smith (chopped)
1 lb raisins (ground)

Steps:

  • 1. Grind Green Tomatoes, put in strainer and drain off all juice. Grind raisins
  • 2. Measure one pint of ground tomato. Pour into a 10 cup pot.
  • 3. Add remaining ingredients and cook on low heat until thick. About an hour
  • 4. Put into hot pint jars and seal while boiling hot. For a sure seal, once lids are on and tightened, turn bottles upside down till cool.
