Time 40m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 pounds green beans, trimmed
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
8 ounces hot Italian sausage, casings removed
1 small red onion, thinly sliced
1 small bulb fennel, halved, cored and very thinly sliced, plus chopped fronds for topping
2 teaspoons fresh thyme

Steps:

  • Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add half the green beans and season generously with salt and pepper. Cook, undisturbed, until starting to brown, about 3 minutes. Toss and continue cooking until tender, 3 to 4 minutes; transfer to a rimmed baking sheet. Add another 2 tablespoons olive oil to the skillet and repeat with the remaining green beans; add to the baking sheet and wipe out the skillet.
  • Add the remaining 2 tablespoons oil and the sausage to the skillet. Cook over medium-high heat, breaking up the meat, until lightly browned, 4 to 5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon to the baking sheet with the green beans. Add the red onion, fennel and thyme to the skillet, season with salt and cook, stirring, until softened, 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Return the beans and sausage to the skillet and toss; season with salt and pepper. Transfer to a serving dish and top with fennel fronds.

I would not recommend this recipe. It's bland, boring, and a waste of time.

This recipe is way too complicated. I spent forever chopping vegetables and measuring ingredients. It's not worth the effort.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but this recipe was a disaster. The sausage was burnt and the green beans were raw. I'm not a fan.

This recipe was a waste of time. The sausage was dry and the green beans were mushy. I won't be making this again.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my green beans were still tough. I think I should have cooked them for a bit longer.

I found this recipe to be a bit bland. I added some extra spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika, and it was much better.

I'm not a big fan of fennel, so I omitted it from this recipe. It was still delicious, but I think the fennel would have added a nice touch of flavor.

I made this recipe in my slow cooker. I cooked it on low for 6 hours and it was perfect. The sausage and fennel were so tender and the green beans were still crisp.

I used turkey sausage in this recipe instead of pork sausage. It was still delicious and a bit healthier.

I added a few extra cloves of garlic to this recipe and it was even better. I love the garlicky flavor.

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover sausage. I always have some leftover after making a big batch of gumbo, so I'm always looking for new ways to use it.

I'm not usually a fan of fennel, but I loved it in this dish. It paired perfectly with the sausage and green beans.

I love the simplicity of this recipe. It's quick and easy to make, but it's still packed with flavor. The fennel adds a nice touch of anise.
