Grandmother Taylor's Southern Chess Pie image

This is by far my favorite pie. My grandmother always made this for me on Friday nights when I would stay with them. I watched her make it and share the love of this with my daughter.

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 large eggs
1 1/2 c sugar
1 stick oleo
1 Tbsp vinegar-will not taste this in pie
1 Tbsp vanilla
2 Tbsp cornmeal

Steps:

  • 1. Beat eggs.
  • 2. Melt butter, add other items. Put into a unbaked pie shell. I think she used a 9" shell.
  • 3. Bake at 300 degrees for 30-50 minutes.This will be a custard-like pie.
