When I was stationed in Germany in 1980, this recipe was given to me by my unit commander's wife (Karen Earlewine). You can substitute cut-up hot dogs for the cocktail franks.

Steps:
- 1. Drain pineapple juice into a large saucepan. To the juice, add sauerkraut, tomato sauce, pepper, ginger, and sugar. Simmer 30 minutes.
- 2. Add cocktail franks, jelly, and pineapple. Cook until jelly melts and franks are hot.
- 3. This can be cooked in a crockpot - just combine all the ingredients and cook on low for 3-4 hours.
