Number Of Ingredients 7

3 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 (7-ounce) can imported Italian or Spanish tuna packed in olive oil
10 fresh basil leaves, chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crumbled
pinch of crushed red pepper
salt
1 pound fusilli or rotelle pasta

Steps:

  • 1 In a large serving bowl, combine the tomatoes, tuna with its oil, basil, oregano, red pepper, and salt to taste. 2 Bring at least 4 quarts of water to a boil in a large pot. Add 2 tablespoons of salt, then the pasta. Stir well. Cook over high heat, stirring frequently, until the pasta is al dente, tender yet still firm to the bite. Set aside some of the cooking water. Drain the pasta. 3 Toss the pasta with the sauce. Add a little of the cooking water if the pasta seems dry. Serve immediately. From "1,000 Italian Recipes." Copyright 2004 by Michele Scicolone.
