I've been using this recipe for over 20 years, ever since I moved to South Carolina. It can be adjusted to serve any number. Allow 2 tablespoons of seasoning per quart of water. If you cannot find hot smoked sausage, use another smoked sausage such as kielbasa and add crushed hot red pepper to the pot.

This stew was a bit too salty for my taste. I think I'll try using less salt next time.

This recipe was a disaster! The stew was watery and the dumplings were raw. I had to throw the whole thing away.

The stew was good, but the dumplings were a bit dry. I think I might try a different dumpling recipe next time.

I've made this stew a few times now and it's always a crowd-pleaser. The dumplings are so light and fluffy, and the stew itself is packed with flavor. I love that it's a one-pot meal, too. So easy to clean up!
