Fried Cheese Sticks image

Just about everyone loves fried cheese sticks. Recipes.com's version gets a punch of heat from ground red pepper and cheese spiced with jalapeƱos. To tame heat, use plain Monterey Jack (without the peppers), mozzarella or Swiss cheese, and either omit the red pepper or use less of it. Recipe from 2009.

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 pkg 8 oz. each monterey jack cheese with jalapeƱo peppers
1 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp ground red pepper
1 c fine, seasoned dry bread crumbs (i use italian style)
1 tsp dried parsley
4 medium eggs, beaten
vegetable oil for frying
marinara sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Cut cheese crosswise into 3/4 inch slices. Lay slices flat and cut in half lengthwise. Combine flour and red pepper; stir well. Combine bread crumbs and parsley in another bowl; stir well. Dip cheese sticks in beaten eggs. Dredge in flour mixture. Dip coated cheese in egg again; dredge in bread crumb mixture, pressing firmly so that crumbs adhere. Place cheese sticks on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes. Fry cheese sticks in 375^ deep oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with marinara sauce or Ranch dressing. --- Note: If you like cream cheese it is awesome fried this way. Use cream cheese cold ,cut in strips. Prepare as above. Freeze as above and fry up. I like to dip these in orange marmalade. OMG this is to die for.

I tried making these cheese sticks, but they didn't turn out well. The breading was too thick and the cheese didn't melt properly. I think I'll try a different recipe next time.

These cheese sticks were a disappointment. The breading was too thick and the cheese was bland. I would not recommend this recipe.

I'm not a huge fan of fried food, but these cheese sticks were surprisingly good. They were light and fluffy, and the cheese was melted and gooey. I would definitely make these again.

These cheese sticks were easy to make and turned out great! I used a blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheese, and they were perfectly crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. I served them with marinara sauce and they were a hit at my party.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but these cheese sticks were a disaster. The breading was soggy and the cheese was hard. I'm going to have to try a different recipe.
