French 75 image

The original French 75 drink was created at Harry's New York Bar in Paris, France during WWI. The original version had a powerful kick, like a French 75 mm artillery gun. The version here uses less gin. -Taste of Home Test Kitchen

Number Of Ingredients 6

Coarse sugar
Ice cubes
3/4 ounce gin
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
3 ounces chilled champagne

Steps:

  • Sprinkle a thin layer of sugar on a plate. Moisten the rim of a chilled champagne flute with water; hold glass upside down and dip rim into sugar., Fill a shaker three-fourths full with ice. Add gin, confectioners' sugar and lemon juice; cover and shake until condensation forms on outside of shaker, 10-15 seconds. Strain into prepared flute; top with champagne.
