This is one outstanding recipe for Shepherd's pie that my entire family loved. I especially enjoy my addition of Tuscan veggies, spices and french fried onions. Hope you'll try it out too. This...

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 lb ground turkey
2 tsp greek seasoning
1/2 - 1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1 - 2 tsp worcestershire sauce
2 pkg tuscan vegetables with the sauce
6 c potatoes, mashed
1 1/2 c corn kernels, frozen (optional)
1 1/2 c swiss cheese or cheddar, shredded
2 - 3 Tbsp flour
1 can(s) french fried onions (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. One Ninja Cooking System or a large skillet & casserole dish will work too.
  • 2. Add turkey to the pot and the seasonings as well. Set to STOVETOP HIGH. Cook about 5-10 minutes till turkey is cooked through, stirring often.
  • 3. Stir in your tuscan veggies and flour. Cook another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 4. I made this for my parents the other night for their return from Florida. Some of us like corn and some of us don't, so I did a half corn. 4/8/13
  • 5. Spread evenly the mashed potatoes over the top of mixture.
  • 6. Top with swiss or cheddar. Set OVEN to 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Cover & cook until mixture is hot. Now, just pick up the pot right out of the Ninja and take to the table. Put on a hot pad and this will remain PIPING HOT.
  • 7. yes
  • 8. (I put some french fried onions in a bowl on the table. It adds a little crunch which I like.)
  • 9. Photo of Tuscan veggies that I use because my husband doesn't care for green beans and does not eat corn. I also didn't have enough mashed potatoes, so I whipped up a box of fake one's and it worked fine.

This recipe was a disaster! The filling was watery and the crust was soggy. I followed the recipe exactly, so I'm not sure what went wrong.

The shepherd's pie was a bit bland for my taste, but it was still a good meal. I think I'll add some more seasoning next time.

I've made this recipe several times now, and it's always a crowd-pleaser. The flavors are well-balanced, and the crust is perfectly golden brown. Highly recommend!
