Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 can(s) apple pie filling, or your favorite
1/2 c butter, melted
1 1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon - divided
1/4 c each - granulated sugar & packed brown sugar
1/4 c old fashioned oats
1/3 c chopped pecans
handful of raisins - optional

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 425 degree F. I used my iron skillet for this dessert. You can use a 9 inch pie plate or another oven safe skillet. Pour pie filling into pan and chop up apples some, to evenly distribute. I then added a handful of raisins. Sprinkle with 1/2 the cinnamon...If you want more filling than topping, add an extra can of pie filling.
  • 2. In a medium bowl add the flour, pecans, sugars, the other half of the cinnamon, and oats. Toss well.
  • 3. Pour in the melted butter and toss together until you have all dry ingredients moistened. I use my fingers.
  • 4. Spread crumb mixture evenly onto a baking sheet and bake for roughly 5 minutes or until begins to brown.
  • 5. Once cool, sprinkle evenly over pie filling. Place back into oven and bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden. My oven went on the blinks half way through baking and burnt my top some...luckily I caught it in time.
  • 6. Serve warm with a big scoop of ice cream...yummy!

I wouldn't recommend this apple crumble recipe. It was a lot of work and it didn't turn out very good.

I found this apple crumble to be a bit dry. I think I would add more butter to the crumble topping next time.

This apple crumble was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it was still good. I would probably use less sugar next time.
