CAKE:
1 c coca cola, regular
1/2 c oil
1 stick butter, softened
3 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 c sugar
2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/2 c buttermilk

1 stick butter
3 Tbsp cocoa powder
3 oz whipping cream

  • 1. CAKE: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
  • 2. In a saucepan, mix Coca Cola, oil, butter and cocoa and bring to a boil. In another bowl, combine the sugar, flour and salt. Pour the boiling Cola mixture over the flour mixture and beat well. Add the eggs, buttermilk, soda and vanilla and beat well.
  • 3. Spread mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 25 to 45 minutes or until it springs back in the middle when lightly touched with your finger. Remove pan from oven. Prepare frosting while allowing cake to cool for about 10 minutes before frosting.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my cake didn't turn out as expected. It was too dry and the frosting was too runny.

This cake was easy to make and turned out great! The only thing I would change is to use a different frosting. The ganache frosting was a bit too rich for my taste.
