Provided by vickysue_4

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
salt/pepper
10-ounce frozen spinach, thawed (I used fresh spinach) (optional)
16-ounce bowtie pasta, cooked
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
1 1/2 cup mozzarella, shredded

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Put in crock-pot and add sauce, tomatoes and seasonings. Cook for 6-7 hours on low. Add the last 4 ingredients during the last 30 minutes of cooking and turn crock-pot to high. I added the fresh spinach, pasta, parmesan and 1 cup of the mozzarella and I mixed it all up really well. Then I added the last 1/2 cup of mozzarella to melt on the top.

I like my food spicy, so I added a teaspoon of chili powder and a half teaspoon of cumin to the sauce. It gave the casserole a nice kick!

I made a few healthy substitutions to this recipe. I used whole wheat ravioli, low-fat cream of mushroom soup, and I didn't add any cheese. It was still very flavorful and satisfying.

I love cheese, so I added a cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the top of the casserole. It was so good! The cheese melted and got all bubbly and gooey.

This is a great recipe for busy weeknights. I can throw it all in the crock pot in the morning and dinner is ready when I get home from work. My kids love it too!

I've made this recipe several times and it's always a hit! I love that it's so easy to make and that I can use whatever ravioli I have on hand. I've even used tortellini before and it was just as good.
