Crispy Baked Onion Rings image

Do you crave onion rings, but the idea of frying them is a turn-off. Try these crispy baked onion rings instead.

2 egg whites
2 Tbsp cold water
1 1/2 c cornflake crumbs
1/4 tsp salt
1 large yellow onion, cut into 1/4 inch rings

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • 2. Whisk together the egg whites and water in a shallow dish. Place the crumbs and salt in another shallow dish or plate.
  • 3. Dip the onion rings into the egg mixture; then into the crumb mixture. Arrange the onion rings on the baking sheet and lightly spray them with cooking spray.
  • 4. Place baking sheet on the oven rack in the second slot on the bottom half of the oven. Bake until tender and the coating is crisp. Baking time is approximately 25 minutes.
