CREAM CHEESE TOPPED BROWNIES
This is my traditional brownie recipe that I decided to top with a cream cheese topping. It came out great! The 8 X 8 pan is just the right size for the smaller family. The brownies also freeze well. Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour and 8 X 8 inch square pan and set aside.
- 2. Melt butter over medium heat. Add cocoa and stir to mix. Pour into a mixing bowl. Add sugar and beat well. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla.
- 3. Add flour and salt. Mix by hand using a rubber spatula. Spread batter into pan and set aside.
- 4. In mixing bowl (you may use the same one) add cream cheese, sugar, egg, and flour. Beat until smooth. Spoon on top of brownie mixture. Swirl with a knife or spatula.
- 5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until brownies test done with a tooth pick. (I began checking mine after 25 minutes). In my oven, it took the full 35 minutes.
- 6. Let brownies cool in pan and then cut into squares. Enjoy!
