CRANBERRY CHERRY RELISH image

Yield about 4 cups

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 cups dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1.5 cups raisins
1 orange (unpeeled)
1 lemon (unpeeled)
1 cup canned pitted dark sweet cherries (drained)
.5 cup distilled white vinegar
.5 cinnamon stick
.5 tsp ground cinnamon
.5 tsp ground cloves
.5 tsp nutmeg, freshly grated
1.5 cup fresh cranberries

Steps:

  • Quarter and seed orange and lemon, then cut into 1/4" pieces. Combine all ingredients except cranberries in heavy large saucepan. Bring mixture to boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Add cranberries and simmer until they begin to pop, about 5 more minutes. Remove cinnamon stick. Cover and refrigerate until cold. (Can be prepared 1 week ahead.)
