Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 12 oz rib eye steaks
1 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 tsp each salt chili powder and garlic powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp vegetable oil

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the smoked paprika, salt, chili powder, garlic powder, and pepper together. Pat the steaks dry and rub the spice mixture over both sides of the steaks. Let the steaks come to room temp.
  • 2. Place a 12 inch cast iron skillet in oven and turn oven on at 500 degrees. Once the oven gets up to 500 degrees remove the skillet and from the oven and place over high heat on stove. Place a oven mitt over the handle so you don't get burned. Turn off the oven.
  • 3. Place the oil in the skillet when it starts smoking add the steaks. Place another skillet on top of the steaks and let sear for three minutes. Flip the steaks and sear on the other side for three minutes. Flip again and place in the oven that is still hot. Let cook 3 to 5 minutes depending on desired doneness. Remove from oven and let rest for at least 10 minutes.
