Time 50m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 1/2 pounds russet potatoes (4 to 5 medium), peeled and chopped
Kosher salt
1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) salted butter, cut into pieces, at room temperature
1/4 to 1/2 cup milk, warmed
Freshly ground pepper
Chopped fresh parsley, for topping

Steps:

  • Put the potatoes in a large saucepan and cover with cold water by 1 inch. Season generously with salt and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer until very tender, about 15 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes and return to the saucepan over low heat; cook until any remaining water evaporates, about 2 minutes. Add all but 1 tablespoon butter; mash with a potato masher until smooth. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt, then gradually mash in the milk until creamy. Transfer to a serving dish; top with the remaining 1 tablespoon butter and chopped parsley.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my mashed potatoes turned out watery. I think I might have added too much milk.

I used red potatoes instead of Yukon Gold, and they turned out great! I also added a little bit of sour cream, which made them even more creamy.

I'm not a fan of garlic, so I omitted it from the recipe. The mashed potatoes were still delicious!

These mashed potatoes were a little bland for my taste, but they were still good. I think I'll add some more salt and pepper next time.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my mashed potatoes turned out lumpy. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

I'm not a big fan of mashed potatoes, but I have to admit that these were pretty good. I especially liked the crispy bits on top.

These mashed potatoes were so creamy and fluffy! I used Yukon Gold potatoes, and they turned out perfectly. I also added a little bit of garlic and chives, which gave them a delicious flavor.
