Cinnamon Jumbles image

This is from my Betty Crockers Cooky Book. These were called one of the best Cooky of 1800-1900. I love this book it also contains historical facts. 1896 A Chinese chef in New York concoted the first chop suey.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 c shotening (part butter or margrine)
1 c sugar
1 egg
3/4 c buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
2 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Steps:

  • 1. Mix shortening 1cup of sugar and egg thoroughly. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Blend in flour, soda, and salt. Chill dough at least 1 hour.
  • 2. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Drop rounded teaspoons on lightly greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Bake 8-10 minutes. or until set but not brown.
