Chocolate Jumbo image

Frosted chocolate and molasses spicy cookie.

Number Of Ingredients 13

½ cup shortening
½ cup white sugar
1 cup molasses
1 egg
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cloves
½ teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt
½ cup hot water
48 walnut halves

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg and molasses, mix well.
  • Sift together dry ingredients, add to shortening mixture, alternating with hot water. Mix well.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet, cool. Frost with Butter Frosting and top each cookie with a walnut.
