Steps:
- Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. Beat shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in a mixer bowl. Add eggs one at a time, beating well and scraping bowl after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop round tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet and bake at 375 for 11 minutes. Prepare a brown paper grocery bag by cutting it apart to make a flat piece of paper. Once cookies are done, let sit a few minutes and then place cookies on paper bag. Let them cool completely. The bag will absorb the extra oil from the cookies.
