2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 (12 ounce) package chocolate chips
3 cups flour (if using self rising OMIT soda & salt)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°.
  • Mix shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla.
  • Blend in remaining ingredients.
  • Drop dough onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes or until brown.
