Chewy Chocolate Cookies image

So chocolaty and chewy, just like the name implies. Originally, this recipe was on a Hershey's Cocoa tin.

PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT
1 1/4 c butter, softened
2 c granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp real vanilla extract
2 c usifted, all-purpose flour
3/4 c cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 c finely chopped nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter and sugar in large mixer bowl. Add eggs and vanilla and blend well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts if desired. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350F for 8-9 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE! Cookies will be soft and puffed up but will flatten upon cooling. Cool on cookie sheet to set, about 1 minute; remove to wire rack to cool completely. Yields about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
