Cherry Squares image

Made these last night, are not too sweet, but very good. I had a can of cherry pie filling I wanted rid of, so went recipe searching....needless to say they won't last long in this house..just enough sweetness to be satisfying..

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 c butter ( softened)
2 c sugar
4 eggs
3 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp almond extract (i used vanilla)
1 large 21 oz can of cherry pie filling

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter and sugar together until very light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then beat in the extracts. Gradually mix in the flour until well incorporated.
  • 2. Spread 3/4 of the batter in the bottom of a 9"x13" pan lined with parchment paper. Scoop cherry pie filling over batter in pan.
  • 3. Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls over the cherries. Bake at 375 for 45 min. Let cool completely before slicing and serving.
