Yield 4-6 people

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb ground beef
1 cup Velveeta
3/4 cup milk
1 tbs ketchup
1 tbs instant onion -OR- 3 tbs minced fresh onion
1 pkg large buttermilk biscuits (like Grands)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups tater tots, crispy crowns or regular frozen french fries

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly spray a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Open biscuits and cut into quarters. Spread evenly over the bottom of prepared baking dish. Brown ground beef in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Drain fat from pan. Lower heat to low and add the Velveeta, milk, ketchup and onion, stirring frequently until Velveeta is melted. If you want more sauce, add another 1/4 cup of milk. Top biscuits with meat/cheese sauce mixture. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar over the meat. Top with tater tots/crowns/french fries, spreading them out until they almost cover the top. Bake at 375 for 20-30 minutes, or until potatoes are done and crispy and biscuits are cooked through. This recipe was a disaster! The fries were soggy and the cheeseburger filling was bland. I followed the recipe exactly, but it just didn't turn out well.

This casserole was a bit too greasy for my taste. I think I would have preferred it if the fries had been baked instead of fried. The cheeseburger filling was good, but the fries were just too oily.

I'm not a huge fan of cheeseburgers, but I loved this casserole! The fries were crispy and the cheeseburger filling was flavorful and juicy. I would definitely make this again.

This recipe is a keeper! It's a great way to use up leftover cheeseburger patties and fries. The casserole is cheesy, beefy, and oh-so-satisfying. I served it with a side of ketchup and mustard, and it was perfect.
