My Mama makes the ultimate pecan pie, I like to make this with caramel because I simply love caramel.

Steps:
- 1. In a small saucepan, combine the caramels, water and butter. Cook and stir over low heat until caramels are melted. Remove from heat and set aside.
- 2. In a small mixing bowl, beat together eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt until smooth. Stir in pecans and caramel mixture.
- 3. Pour into pastry shell - if desired, arrange pecan halves on top.
- 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 - 40 minutes. Let cool and set before slicing.
