This is a Southern favorite. It is a custard pie. There are many variations of this pie and most are very good. This is my family favorite. I use my own pie crust recipe as I don't like store bought.

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- 2. Mix sugar and flour together. Beat eggs well and add to dry mix. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- 3. Add butter and buttermilk and mix on high for 2 minutes. Add lemon juice and vanilla extract.
- 4. Pour mixture into unbaked pie crust. Bake until golden, 55 minutes to 1 hour. Pie will look jiggly when removed. But, will firm as it cools.
