- Place Yams in a shallow baking dish. Combine syrup from can, sugar and butter in saucepan, stirring to boil to thicken. Pour sauce over Yams. Bake in 350° oven for 20 to 30 minutes, basting frequently. *Vary the above recipe with these taste-tempting garnishes: Sprinkle lightly with ground cinnamon and/or nutmeg. Place a few slices from a whole orange on Yams in dish and add 3 Tbls. Orange juice to liquid before basting. Place a small sprinkling of crushed pineapple on Yams in dish and add 3 Tbls. Pineapple juice to liquid before basting.
