8 slices French bread, each 1/2 inch thick
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 eggs
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups milk, scalded and cooled
Powdered sugar, if desired

This was my first time making bread and butter pudding and it was a bit of a disaster. The custard didn't set properly and the bread was too soggy. I think I'll stick to other desserts.

I was a bit skeptical about this recipe at first, but I'm so glad I tried it. The bread and butter pudding was amazing! The custard was rich and creamy, and the bread was perfectly tender. I will definitely be making this again.
