BLT Bacon Burgers image

These BLT-inspired burgers are sure to be a hit at any backyard barbecue.

2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
6 slices bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Cooking spray or vegetable oil
1/2 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
6 burger buns
6 lettuce leaves
6 to 12 slices crisply cooked bacon
1 medium ripe avocado, pitted, peeled and sliced
1 to 2 medium tomatoes, sliced

Steps:

  • Heat charcoal or gas grill. In medium bowl, mix all burger ingredients except cooking spray. Shape mixture into 6 patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Spray patties with cooking spray, or lightly brush with oil.
  • Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 11 to 13 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F.
  • Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise on bottom of each burger bun. Top each with lettuce, bacon, burger, avocado, tomato slice and bun top.
