Base:
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
4 egg yolks beaten until thick
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups cake flour
2 egg whites
Topping:
2 beaten egg whites
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup sliced almonds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 Base: Cream butter and sugar until light. Add egg yolks, salt, and flour. Fold in beaten egg whites. Spread thin on greased cookie sheet. Topping: Beat egg whites till stiff. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Add half of sugar cinnamon mixture. Spread onto batter Sprinkle almonds over topping. Sprinkle remaining sugar/cinnamon mixture over top. Bake 30 min. Cool slightly. Cut into bars, remove to cooling rack.
