Better Homes and Gardens Apple Bacon Burger image

This is found in the July 2010 magazine under a section called "Fast Summer Meals". I am posting it to make it easy to find. I can't wait to try this.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 lb Italian sausage
1/2 lb ground beef
2 granny smith apples
8 slices bacon
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon honey
4 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Core and finely chop one apple.
  • Mix sausage, beef and chopped apple and shape into burgers.
  • Grill directly over medium high heat for 4-5 minutes per side (until pink no longer remains).
  • While burgers are cooking, cook bacon and toast hamburger buns.
  • In a small bowl stir together mayonnaise, mustard and honey.
  • Put mayo-honey-mustard spread on a toasted bun and top with cooked burger.
  • Core and slice an additional green apple.
  • Place 2 slices of apple and 2 slices of bacon on top of burger.
  • Top with other bun half and enjoy!
