Never really cared much for baked beans until I tried this at a work potluck. I chased down the gal that made it and got the recipe. My family loved it. Then I lost the recipe. Years later I met the same gal at a different job and got this recipe back. Now I have copies in several different cookbooks and have given it to many...

Number Of Ingredients 15

1/2 lb ground beef
10 slice bacon, chopped
1/2 c chopped onion
1/3 c brown sugar, packed
1/3 c white sugar
1/4 c ketchup
1/4 c barbecue sauce, youre favorite
2 Tbsp prepared mustard
2 Tbsp molasses
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp pepper
1 lb kidney beans (16oz can)
1 lb butter beans (16oz can)
1 lb pork and beans (16oz can) any brand

Steps:

  • 1. Brown ground beef and bacon. Drain. Add onion and cook till tender. Add all other ingredients except the beans and mix well.
  • 2. Drain kidney beans and butter beans. Add all beans to meat mixture. Pour into 3 quart casserole dish or into crock pot.
  • 3. To prepare in oven, bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. To prepare in crock pot, cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low and cook for 4 hours. I always double this for family get to gathers or pot lucks
  • 4. This recipe is great for Dutch Oven cooking. Triple recipe for a 12 inch Dutch Oven.
