One of my family and friends favorites! (not an accident this time)

Time 16h30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb boneless beef sirloin
1 c beef consomme
1/2 c soy sauce, low sodium
1/3 c brown sugar
1 tsp sesame oil
3 clove garlic, minced
2 Tbsp cornstarch
2 c broccoli florets
1 box white rice

Steps:

  • 1. In the insert of the crock pot, whisk together beef consume, soy sauce, dark brown sugar, sesame oil, and garlic.
  • 2. Gently place your slices of beef in the liquid and toss to coat.
  • 3. Turn crock pot on low and cook for 6 hours.
  • 4. When done, in a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cooking liquid to create a slurry, pour into crock pot, stir to mix well. Cook on low for an additional 30 minutes to thicken up the sauce.
  • 5. Toss in your broccoli florets then serve hot over white rice.
  • 6. *Note about cooking time: Your crockpot may differ in temperature than mine, I suggest cooking this for 4 hours on your first go-round of this dish. 6 hours in the crockpot seems to be giving a lot of people "shredded" beef instead of slices, so decrease cooking time by 2 hours and go from there. Mine turned out fine with 6 hours.

I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out terrible. I won't be making this again.

This recipe was a disaster. The beef was overcooked and the rice was mushy.

I'm not a big fan of this recipe. The beef was tough and the broccoli was bland.

I love the fact that this recipe is made in the crock pot. It's so easy to just throw everything in and let it cook all day.

I'm not a big fan of beef, but I love this dish. The broccoli and rice are so flavorful that they make up for the beef.

This dish is a great way to use up leftover beef. I usually make a big batch of beef stew on the weekend and then use the leftovers to make this dish during the week.

This recipe was a lifesaver on a busy weeknight. I was able to throw everything in the crock pot in the morning and dinner was ready when I got home from work. The beef and broccoli were tender and flavorful, and the rice was cooked perfectly.

I've made this dish several times now and it always turns out great. It's so easy to throw everything in the crock pot and let it cook all day. I usually serve it over rice, but it's also good with noodles.
