BARBEQUE SAUCE image

This sauce has been in my family for as long as I can remember. It is versatile, add more heat i.e. jalapeno's or chilli peppers or just leave it as is. It's good on chicken, spare ribs, pork chops too. Enjoy

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 vidalia onion chopped (large size)
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 large pieces of garlic minced
pepper to taste
1 c sugar
1 38 oz. bottle ketsup
1 18 oz. bottle or larger of barbecue sauce (i used guy fieri's or sweet baby rays) brown sugar flavor
1/2 c lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium size pan, drizzle olive oil just to lightly coat, sauté garlic and onion just until translucent. Add all the rest of the ingredients, stir and simmer 30 minutes on very low heat. I put 3/4 of the cooked sauce to coat my chicken or pork or barbecue ribs and save the rest for dipping if wanted. If not wanted freeze or use all of the sauce if you like.

I'm not a big fan of barbecue sauce, but this one is actually pretty good. It's not too sweet and has a nice smoky flavor.

This sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. I prefer a more savory barbecue sauce.

This sauce was a disappointment. It was too sweet and didn't have much flavor. I won't be making it again.

This is hands-down the best barbecue sauce I've ever tasted! It's sweet, tangy, and has just the right amount of smokiness. I can't wait to try it on my next batch of ribs.
