A healthy and delicious fruit dessert. I think I originally got this recipe from the Deaf Smith Country Cook Book. Time for cooking is very approximate (see recipe, step 8).

Steps:
- Make lemon sauce ahead of time: Dissolve arrowroot in a little milk; place in a saucepan with rest of milk and cinnamon stick.
- Stir and cook over low heat, stirring, until slightly thickened.
- Stir in lemon peel, lemon juice and 1/4 cup of the honey.
- Remove from heat, remove and discard cinnamon stick, cover and place in refrigerator to chill.
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Halve and core pears; place in a glass baking dish.
- In a small saucepan, bring 1/4 cup honey, water and cloves just to boiling point, but do not boil; pour over pears.
- Bake until pears are fork-tender (time for this varies considerably depending on firmness of pears--really hard ones can take as much as an hour).
- Remove and discard whole cloves.
- Serve warm with chilled lemon sauce.

[email protected]Overall, this was a good recipe. The pears were tender and flavorful, and the lemon sauce was a nice complement. However, I found that the pears took longer to bake than the recipe stated. I had to add an extra 15 minutes to the baking time.

[email protected]This recipe was a disaster! The pears were mushy and the lemon sauce was too sour. I followed the recipe exactly, so I'm not sure what went wrong.

[email protected]I thought the pears were a bit bland. I think they needed more spices or something to give them more flavor. The lemon sauce was good, though.

[email protected]These baked pears were a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I would reduce the amount of sugar in the lemon sauce next time. Otherwise, the recipe was easy to follow and the pears came out nicely.
