This is a nice hearty meal with a simple homemade sauce and lots of cheese.

Time 2h5m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 1/2 lb ground beef
3 can(s) tomato sauce 28 oz cans
1 can(s) tomato paste
1 Tbsp italian seasoning
1/2 Tbsp garlic powder
1/2 Tbsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic salt
2 Tbsp sugar
1 box large elbow macaroni (not large box actual large noodles) or other favorite pasta
3 c cheddar cheese, shredded
crushed plain potato chips (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Brown and drain ground beef in a large sauce pan. Add beef back to pan and the rest of the sauce ingredients. Bring to boil then lower heat and simmer for at least one hour. While sauce is cooking bring a pot of water to boil and cook noodles al dente right before sauce is done. Drain noodles and add sauce to noodles until it's the consistency you want. I make mine pretty saucy since baking dries it out a bit.
  • 2. Assemble casserole. Layer of pasta. Then half your cheese. Then another layer of pasta. Then add the rest of your cheese. Sometimes I add crushed up potato chips to the top for a little crunch. Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes. I like my cheese nice and browned and bubbly.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my goulash turned out dry and overcooked.

The goulash was good, but it wasn't anything special.

I found this goulash to be a bit bland. I had to add a lot of extra spices to make it taste good.

This goulash was a bit too spicy for my taste, but my husband loved it.

I'm not a big fan of goulash, but I really enjoyed this recipe. The sauce was so flavorful and the beef was cooked perfectly.
