Time 1h

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 pounds mixed ground beef, veal and pork
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups bread crumbs
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup horseradish
1 teaspoon dry mustard
2 teaspoons salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup ketchup; more for garnish
8 strips bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, combine everything but the bacon. Mix, using your hands, until well blended. In a roasting pan or iron skillet, shape the mixture into a lobster. With the ketchup, either rub a thin coating all over the lobster or make lines for visual appeal. Wrap the bacon slices across the tail or at joints, so everyone gets a little. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, covering the "claws" with foil after 40 minutes so that they don't dry out.

The mock lobster was a bit dry. I think it could have used more moisture.

I've never had mock lobster before, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It's a great alternative to lobster for people who are on a budget.

This recipe is a great way to get kids to eat fish. My kids loved the mock lobster and they didn't even realize that they were eating fish.

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover fish. I had some cooked salmon that I didn't know what to do with, and this recipe was the perfect solution.

The mock lobster was a bit too bland for my taste. I think it could have used more seasoning.

This recipe is a great way to enjoy the taste of lobster without the high price tag. The mock lobster is made with a combination of fish and vegetables, and it has a surprisingly similar flavor and texture to the real thing.
