Provided by klittle

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 pounds finely ground lean beef
1 cup breadcrumbs (I use seasoned breadcrumbs)
2 eggs
1 can (16-ounce or less) unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup grated onion
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2/3 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except ketchup and water. Mix lightly. Form into 16 balls (or size of your choosing). You can brown the balls in hot vegetable oil (I usually skip this step.) Place meatballs in baking dish. Combine ketchup and water; pour over meatballs. You can make more sauce if desired. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 to 1-1/2 hours.

These meatballs are perfect for a party or potluck. They're easy to make ahead of time and they always disappear quickly.

This recipe is a great starting point, but it needs some tweaking. The meatballs were a bit bland, so I added more spices. I also found that the sauce was a bit too thin, so I added some cornstarch to thicken it up.

The meatballs were a little dry, even though I followed the recipe exactly. Maybe I should have added more applesauce or broth.

These meatballs were a bit too sweet for my taste, even though I used unsweetened applesauce. Next time, I'll try using less applesauce or adding some savory ingredients to balance out the sweetness.

I was skeptical about using applesauce in meatballs, but I'm so glad I tried this recipe. The applesauce adds a subtle sweetness and moisture that makes the meatballs incredibly tender and juicy. The sauce is also amazing - it's tangy, sweet, and sav

I've tried many applesauce meatball recipes, but this one is by far the best. The combination of applesauce, brown sugar, and spices is perfect. The meatballs are always moist and flavorful, and the sauce is thick and glossy. I highly recommend this
