Number Of Ingredients 17

2 3/4 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c nuts, if desired
1 c raisins
3/4 c applesauce
1/2 c butter or margarine, softened
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp good vanilla
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 eggs
GLAZE
1/3 c butter(do not use margarine)
2 c powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2-4 Tbsp hot water

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, mix all cookie ingredients with spoon. (If dough is soft, cover and refrigerate.)
  • 2. Heat the oven to 375'F. On greased cookie sheet, drop dough by rounded teaspoons full about 2" apart.
  • 3. Bake 8-10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched. Immediately remove from the cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • 4. In a 1-quart saucepan, melt butter over low heat until golden brown. Remove from heat. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir in hot water just until smooth and spreadable. Spread on cookies.

These jumbles were a bit too crumbly for my taste, but the flavor was good. I might try adding an egg next time to see if that helps.

These jumbles were a disappointment. They were dry and bland. I won't be making them again.

These jumbles were a bit too sweet for my taste, but my kids loved them. They were also a bit dry, so I think I'll add some more applesauce next time.
